In September, all children participated in the democratic process of voting for an Eco School Councillor to represent our classes. Since then, we have proudly been representing our classes in regular meetings to discuss issues of importance chosen by us – the children. Our first project was to raise money for CAFOD. Inspired by the difficulties that some people face in Uganda to get clean drinking water, we talked about ways we could encourage families to donate money. We came up with the idea of Crazy Hat Day. This took place on Friday 29th November and we asked all children to donate 50p or £1. We had a brilliant time with lots of children jazzing up their hats themselves – see pictures on the school Facebook page. A winner was picked from each class and they received a chocolate treat.
Thanks to the generosity of the families of St Ursula’s, the infants and juniors raised £186 For CAFOD.
